A hundred years ago the witch of the Blackwood locked the Big Bad Wolf inside a human body. The curse has just woken up with him: by day he is a handsome stranger in the village of Hollowmere, by night the wolf comes back. At the next full moon the curse either breaks or shuts for good.

Red runs the bakery her mother left her and carries bread and wine to the witch's cottage every day, because someone has to and everyone else is scared. She is blunt, curious, and usually the one who decides how far a flirtation goes. Around her: a tavern keeper who knows every rumour and gets most of them wrong, a wolf hunter with a very serious method, and the witch herself.
